Total ‘circus performance’ took place at the Christian Dior’s Haute Couture SS19 fashion show in Paris. Maria Grazia Chiuri took the full inspiration from Dovima wth Elephants (Richard Avedon’s , Cirque d’Hiver, Paris, August 1955). When Richard photographed Dovima at a Paris circus she was one of the world’s most famous models and Richard one of the most famous fashion photographers. For that reason, Dovima with Elephants is one of the most famous fashion photographs of all time.

“He had a workshop here in Paris. It was all hand-embroidered—it’s really couture!” – Maria Grazia Chiuri about
Gérard Vicaire, who has recently died.
